Santa Fe Independent Film Fest to honor Oliver Stone
The Santa Fe Independent Film Festival is honoring one of film’s biggest names in October.
Oscar winner Oliver Stone will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award on Oct. 16, at the Lensic Performing Arts Center.
After the ceremony, a film by Stone will be screened.
“Mr. Oliver Stone is one of the very greatest American movie makers of our time,” said Jacquez Paisner, SFiFF artistic director. “He has dared to make a difference, and his courage has had an unmatched impact on the arts.”
Stone started his film career as a writer and earned an Academy Award for Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay for the 1978 film “Midnight Express.”
He also picked up Oscars for directing “Born of the Fourth of July” and “Platoon.”

The 13th annual SFIFF will take place Oct. 13–17.
During the five-day festival, organizers will present more than 100 world-class film screenings, filmmaker Q&As, film discussions and panels, interactive workshops, and networking events.
According to organizers, festival passes are on sale now, while individual tickets will be available in late September at santafeindependentfilmfestival.com.
