Santa Fe International Film Festival Announces 2024 Award Winners and Celebrates Cinematic Excellence

The Santa Fe International Film Festival (SFiFF) announced the recipients of this year's juried awards, recognizing the outstanding achievements of filmmakers across all categories. The SFiFF 2024 jury has honored these visionary creators for their exceptional cinematic craftsmanship and storytelling. This year also marks the first time the winners of the Best Animated Short, Best Narrative Short, and Best Documentary Short categories at the festival will be eligible for Oscar submission. 

SFiFF Submissions Now Open

The Santa Fe International Film Festival is proud to announce that The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences® has named the SFiFF as a qualifying festival in the category of Short Films. Winners of the Best Narrative Short, Best Animated Short, and Best Documentary Short awards may qualify to enter the Academy Awards® provided the films otherwise comply with the Academy rules.

Oscars® Qualifying Status

The Santa Fe International Film Festival is proud to announce that The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences® has named the SFiFF as a qualifying festival in the category of Short Films. Winners of the Best Narrative Short, Best Animated Short, and Best Documentary Short juried awards may qualify to enter the Academy Awards® provided the films otherwise comply with the Academy rules.

Scholarships

The Imogene Hughes Scholarship for New Mexico college or university students pursuing a career in film, is open now through February 28, 2025. Eligible students will be considered for up to $4,000 in funds.

A Weekend of International Feature Films Nominated for the Academy Awards® presented by Santa Fe International Film Festival at Violet Crown


MARCH 7-9: SFiFF presents a selection of films nominated for Best International Feature Film for the 97th Academy Awards®. Nominees for Best International Feature Film include Flow directed by Gints Zilbalodis (Latvia), I’m Still Here directed by Walter Salles (Brazil), Emilia Pérez directed by Jacques Audiard (France), The Seed of the Sacred Fig directed by Mohammad Rasoulof (Germany), and The Girl with the Needle directed by Magnus von Horn (Denmark).

SFiFF is partnering with Violet Crown, the Inn on the Alameda, and Tripod Entertainment to bring this unique film program to New Mexican audiences.
