Giancarlo Esposito is set to be honored by the Santa Fe International Film Festival with this year’s Visionary Award.

The “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” actor will receive the award July 25 at the Gothic Gala in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Esposito has been actively working in film since the ’80s, with roles in “Do the Right Thing,” “Malcolm X,” “School Daze” and “Mo’ Better Blues” making him a close collaborator with Oscar winner Spike Lee. For his turn as Gustavo Fring in “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul,” he earned multiple Emmy nominations and Critics Choice Award wins.

Esposito also scored Emmy recognition for his work in “The Mandalorian” and “The Boys.” He made his directorial debut in “Better Call Saul” Season 6, earning him a 2023 NAACP Image Award.

The festival runs Oct. 14-19 with the line-up yet to be announced. Screenings last year included top Oscar contenders “Frankenstein,” “Sentimental Value” and “The Secret Agent.”
