‘Frankenstein,’ ‘Nuremberg’ and ‘Sentimental Value’ Among Santa Fe International Film Festival Lineup

Guillermo Del Toro’s “Frankenstein” is set to open the Santa Fe International Film Festival (SFiFF) while James Vanderbilt’s “Nuremberg” closes the event.

The festival will take place starting Oct. 15–20 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

This year’s spotlight selection will be Joachim Trier’s “Sentimental Value,” starring Renate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgård and Elle Fanning. Carl Deal and Tia Lessin’s “Steal This Story, Please!” will be the festival’s centerpiece selection.

Also playing will be Bradley Cooper’s “Is This Thing On?,” Luca Guadagnino’s “After the Hunt,” starring Julia Roberts and Ayo Edebiri, and Paolo Sorrentino’s “La Grazia.” Richard Linklater’s two features, “Blue Moon,” and “Nouvelle Vague,” will screen at this year’s event.

Additional films include Noah Baumbach’s “Jay Kelly,” starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler, Nia DaCosta’s “Hedda,” and Jafar Panahi’s “It Was Just an Accident.” Rounding out this distinguished selection are Kleber Mendonça Filho’s “The Secret Agent” and Clint Bentley’s “Train Dreams.” 

Other films selected include Ugo Bienvenu’s “Arco,” Dolores Fonzi’s “Belén,” and Robb Moss’ “The Bend in the River” Bi Gan’s “Resurrection,” Lav Diaz’s Magellan,” and Radu Jude’s “Kontinental ’25,” Christian Petzold’s “Miroirs No 3,” Ira Sachs’ “Peter Hujar’s Day,” Oliver Laxe’s “Sirât,” Sergei’s Loznitsa’s “Two Prosectors,” and Hlynur Pálmason’s “The Love That Remains.”

The festival will also feature Akinola Davies Jr.’s “My Father’s Shadow,” Hasan Hadi’s “The President’s Cake,” Hikari’s “Rental Family”, Max Walker-Silverman’s “Rebuilding, Mascha Schilinski’s “Sound of Falling,” Roul Peck’s “Orwell: 2+2=5,” Park Chan-wook’s “No Other Choice,” and Neil Diamond and Joanne Robertson’s “So Surreal: Behind the Masks.” 

“Cinema is essential. We are honored to present so many of the most exciting films of the year by some of the world’s top directors. This program will dazzle and delight a sophisticated film audience here in Santa Fe,” said Jacques Paisner, Santa Fe International Film Festival’s artistic director.
